Community Service
Schools want to see that students have a passion for giving back and getting involved in community service can provide students with a sense of purpose and satisfaction by working with others to improve the community.
Remember, community service and volunteering does not solely have to be healthcare related. You should aim to select an organization and/or cause that you're passionate about and that resonates with you. Admissions committees can learn more about who you are when you select your experiences with purpose.
Benefits include:
Ability to demonstrate your commitment to service, sense of civic responsibility, and dedication to making a positive impact on your community.
Developing important skills such as teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and time management.
Opportunity to learn about different cultures and perspectives

UNLV Community CARES Events
It is a delivery based event coordinated by UNLV Community CARES, run by Dr. Laura Culley, MD, MPH, (Associate Dean for Community Engagement at KSOM), and the School of Social Work that has dates included in the attached form for all of Spring Semester. UNLV Community CARES consists of volunteers from all career paths including students from schools like KSOM, UNLV Nursing, School of Social Work, and undergraduates at UNLV. They take on clients and help navigate them through the different community resources that help improve their lives.
The form attached below is for volunteers who are interested in delivering "care packages" comprised of items such as masks, sanitizers, etc. to those individual clients in the Las Vegas Valley who otherwise would be unable, or would find it difficult, to attain such items due to various reasons, such as COVID-19. This would be a contactless delivery, and all volunteers will receive instructions on how to do this prior to the scheduled dates.
