Extracurricular Activities
Extracurricular activities can give you the opportunity to explore your interests and find out what you're passionate about. This can mean getting involved in a pre-health student organizations, athletics, Greek Life, peer mentoring/tutoring, etc. Additionally, they can help you build a strong resume and stand out from the competition.
Benefits include:
Further developing skills such as communication, teamwork, leadership, problem-solving, and critical thinking.
Exploring interests and defining your passions. This can be helpful in deciding what kind of medicine you want to practice.
Networking with other students, professionals, and community members. This can be helpful in finding mentors, getting letters of recommendation, and learning about career opportunities.
If you are a registered student organization on campus that focuses on a professional health track we advise, but are not listed below, please provide us with your information at ppac@unlv.edu so we may list you as a resource.
Remember, you don't have to join a health-related organization, but it is recommended in order to connect with peers on the same journey as you. However, we encourage you to join an organization that is meaningful to you.
