Community Building
ESPN Greeting (Threshold) - ESPN is an acronym that stands for four things that it is super important to do with each student, every day, when they enter your classroom. Humans are hardwired to want and need this interaction from others, and they are hardwired to bond, often permanently, with those who share it with them.
Strategic Noticing - Human beings repeat behaviors that are noticed. Noticing a student’s behavior makes them more likely to repeat that behavior (positive and negative).
Social Contract - A social contract is the collection of expectations developed by you and your students.
Check-ins - A check-in is most commonly used at the beginning of the day, beginning of class, or after a transition. Check-ins allow you as the teacher to get a gauge from your students about their current level of well-being, focus, or understanding.
