Preparation
ULS partners with Bespoke Education, a test preparation company that teaches strategies for standardized assessments through mock tests, content review, and small-group instruction.
“Our holistic approach goes beyond simply boosting test scores. It helps students develop a range of skills and qualities that are beneficial in their academic pursuits and throughout their lives. Our classes…
Boost students’ confidence in their test-taking abilities.
Emphasize study techniques and time management skills.
Teach critical thinking and problem-solving approaches.
Analyze practice test results.
Offer personalized feedback.
Teach valuable test-taking strategies, such as question prioritization.
A Bespoke expert will join class virtually, and a tutor will visit ULS ahead of the test.
Registration
Although the test is not mandatory, taking advantage of the spring test a) allows test prep to be fresh in your mind, b) offers the potential to superscore by retesting this summer, and c) includes a familiar setting in your classroom, with your peers, and me proctoring!
When navigating to a test center, click “Change Location” under the zip code and enter test center code 257421. Select ACT no writing, on paper. Many of the questions on the registration survey are optional.
Score Preferences → Sending Scores: We recommend that you do not send scores to universities at registration. Although you may be able to save money upfront, you won’t be able to see your scores before they are sent, and there is no unsending. There are opportunities to send scores later.
Accommodations
Requesting accommodations or need English Language Learner support? Follow the steps on the ACT website and make an appointment with Mrs. Tiffany to organize documentation. Check for the documentation needed to request accommodations or English Language Learner support.
Step 1: Register to test and select "Yes" when prompted about accommodations.
Step 2: Forward the email you received from ACT to Mrs. Tiffany and complete the Consent to Release form.
Step 3: Review the decision notification with Mrs. Tiffany. If your request was denied, you may submit an appeal by the late registration deadline.
Step 4: Work with Mrs. Reeder to arrange testing accommodations.
Landscape
ULS is enhancing its Leadership 11 class to include the choice between ACT and SAT preparation. Students will be exposed to both tests through a mock version, select the one they prefer, and study for the assessment they chose.
About 80% of universities remain test-optional, with more selective schools returning to mandates. Regardless, a strong score can benefit your application and unlock scholarships.
