Senior Project is ULS’ capstone program. In-depth research and writing, an on-site internship, collaboration with advisors, and a formal presentation for a community audience are stepping stones to graduation. Topics range from piano tuning to prosthetics and photojournalism to baseball statistics, with new ideas emerging each year. Projects can lead to a college major declaration or future career endeavor.
2024 Senior Project topics include: astrophotography, rhetoric, building a digital camera, music production, biochemistry, animation, building a campus treehouse, psychology of acting, dairy farms, fundraising, physics of karate, poetry, and foraging.

A milestone experience for juniors is the Career Shadow Day, where students select a working professional to observe firsthand in a particular field of interest. This is the culminating event in career exploration, as students complete research and reflection on potential pathways that complement their strengths, interests, and opportunities. Students will emerge with a mentor and a better understanding of a particular occupation, and such knowledge will inform the next step in the college journey.
