At UPCS, the average trash level of the site is C, or a large amount of trash.
How to classify areas:
Look for surface trash in the area you are doing the trash assessment.
Once you are done looking for surface trash in the area, decide on an area code, starting at A, and ending at D.
A has none/almost none surface trash. It only takes one person in a brief amount of time to pick up the trash.
B has a small amount of surface trash. It takes one or two people to pick up the trash easily.
C has a large amount of surface trash. It takes a small group to pick up the trash in a short amount of time.
D has a HUGE amount of surface trash. It takes a large group or an organization to pick up the trash efficiently.
Area Codes in a Nutshell:
A is colored green. It is not littered as it has almost none, or no surface trash. A is the cleanest, or best area code.
B is colored yellow. It is slightly littered as it has a few areas that have some trash.
C is colored red. It is littered as it has lots of trash, but not as bad as a D.
D is colored purple. It is extremely littered as it has much more trash than a C. D is the messiest, or worst area code.
A is the cleanest, while D is the messiest.
Classifying Areas in a Nutshell:
Look for surface trash in the area you are assessing.
After looking for surface trash, decide on an area code.
If you come to a decision that has one area code, keep it as it is.
If you come to a decision that has two area codes, pick the lower area code. (Example: A/B would be graded as a B.)
After deciding on an area code, check boxes that apply to what trash was found in the assessed area, and put notes if possible. (Example: already cleaned by custodian.)
