Welcome to Evans and to Team 6B! My name is Mrs. Owens and I am the math teacher on team 6B.  This will be my 17th year teaching, and my 15th year teaching 6th grade math. I have had the pleasure of teaching at Evans since it opened. I received both my undergraduate and my master’s degree in elementary and middle school mathematics education from Illinois State University. I love being at Evans and on Team 6B and I know you will too!

My husband is also a math teacher, he teaches 8th grade math at Bloomington Junior High. We have three daughters: Mackenzie who is 13 years old, Kelsey who is 11 years old, and our youngest daughter is Mary Kate and she is 7 years old. You will hear lots of stories about my girls throughout the year! I am originally from Naperville and I enjoy going  up there and visit but I love living in Bloomington-Normal. I am very passionate about math and I love to share my passion for math with my students and show you that math class can be fun too!
