Vietnam's coral reefs are declining due to plastic pollution and bad fishing practices that can harm coral reefs, like dynamite fishing. Plastics damage delicate reef structures, while destructive fishing harms coral that shelters marine life. Coral reefs maintain biodiversity and protect coasts from getting smaller. As reefs worsen, fish move to open waters, becoming targets for predators, disrupting ecosystems, and threatening extinction. This impacts SDGs on marine life and the sustainability of the job as a fisherman since there are over 643,000 fishermen, reducing fish stocks and affecting food security and local economies. Losing lots of fish also negatively affects the HDI by diminishing important resources. Our mission is to help protect the coral reefs in Nha Trang bay as they have deteriorated for the past few years. We want to help fund the local government's efforts of keeping out fishermen in protected areas as well as rebuilding the ecosystem.
