Our team has chosen to focus on Sustainable Development Goal 3, which emphasizes good health and well-being, particularly in reducing the harm caused by air pollution in Hanoi. Air pollution claims approximately 70 thousand lives annually in Vietnam, directly affecting the Human Development Index (HDI) related to long and healthy life. The deteriorating air quality in Hanoi leads to various illnesses, ultimately decreasing life expectancy. For instance, during periods of poor air quality, residents are often forced indoors for safety, yet many lack adequate air filtration systems, leaving their homes filled with harmful pollutants. To address this issue, we aim to develop a sustainable and affordable air purifier utilizing algae, which is eco-friendly and cost-effective. This initiative is crucial as Hanoi's average Air Quality Index (AQI) reached around 180 last November, marking a 21% increase from the previous year. Our product's low electricity consumption and biodegradable algae could significantly improve health outcomes for those affected by pollution.
