Vietnam faces a serious challenge in producing waste. Did you know that Vietnam produces 1.8 millions tonnes of waste and 486 thousand is recycled, which is equal to 27% of the total waste produced. Reports from the ministry of natural resources and environment stated that the plastic production per capita was raised from 3.8 in 1990 to 41.3 in 2018. This means that there was a 1000% increase in plastic consumption per person. Global rankings have also shown that Vietnam is one of the top 4 countries to produce the most waste. Recycling too much waste releases toxic chemicals from the waste that pollute our air, and the amount of trash being thrown into rivers, lakes, and oceans can also cause an impact on bad water quality. Furthermore, the usage of toxic air and water can lead to lung cancer, or heart disease. Our solution is focused on sdg 12.5 reducing waste consumption. By recycling plastic waste into flower pots, this can reduce the amount of plastic waste. Our solution also involves creating activities, posters, websites that promote stop producing plastic waste.
