A Word From Antoine

"Music. What is it? How is it made? Why are we, as a species, creating it? Playing it? Or even listening to it? As one of the most widely accepted artistic forms of self expression, music allows us to tap into something outside of ourselves. It transcends you, me, even our planet, and there is no greater gift than to be a part of it. This is a gift I would love to share with you! I invite you to join me on a journey of sonic exploration. Together we will learn to play, the most exciting and involved of all interactions one can have with music, and it's just as fun as it sounds. It is called "playing" music after all. We will also learn to listen. It's just as important as playing, and it can be just as much fun if done right. We'll play, we'll listen, and by the end of it all, maybe will even learn a thing or two about ourselves and our world. So, if music excites you, if it makes you dance, laugh, cry, or speaks to you in any substantial way, then lets take a trip together: to a universe sound, color, and limitless possibilities. What makes Underhill unique?

Student-oriented experiences

All of the instructors at Underhill work together to hone our craft so we can provide an excellent learning experience for both kids and adults. These lessons are for you and that philosophy runs deep. Our students, so long as they want to, provide the broader goals and projects for their classes and our instructors guide them along the way. Of course, we can provide more concrete direction if needed. We design our lesson experience so that every student feels listened to and supported throughout their entire journey.

Attention to detail

We take pride in craft. We take time to develop thoughtfully designed lesson and workshop plans and curriculums and create content for our students in the form of scores, sheet music, videos and more. We know that the spaces we create in are important and take pride in working within appealing and comfortable spaces with all the necessary tools and equipment for learning and music-making. Integration of music related services

Because Underhill provides a wide variety of services in one location, we facilitate connections and cultivate community! We have found leads for students through our resident bands (and vice versa) and students have discovered local bands through our shared space model. This integration creates a really exciting atmosphere that’s bubbling over with creative energy. We hope Underhill is a place where people lift each other up, inspiring them to achieve their musical goals and challenging them to keep learning and to take their skills and knowledge out into the world.
