In Summer Session One at UNC Charlotte, I took a communications course that is all about communication within the field of health. This is a primary artifact for becoming a healthcare professional because it is vital to be educated within this field. Continuously learning about communication skills and their importance has thoroughly connected my two degrees at UNC Charlotte. I believe that the reason this class is very important to me is because it was my first Health Communications course and one of my favorite classes here at UNC Charlotte. I feel as though ALL healthcare professionals should take a course like this. I think this because in healthcare you are not only communicating with your coworkers, but you communicate with your patients, physicians and nurses.
Another artifact that displays my communication skills has been my position as a Leasing Consultant at a local apartment complex called Rush Student Living. This position has been vital for me and my communications skills because during my time here, I have dealt with the good, bad, and ugly. By this I mean I have had to learn how to effectively communicate with residents, as well as parents, even if they were upset. Although this might not have been easy, it has helped to mold these skills into perfection.
Both of the artifacts shown above display the development of my communication skills. Both of these examples have led me to perfecting my skills and give me examples that strengthen my knowledge of communication.
