Embroidery Project

Spring 2018

The designer's activities and abilities outside of class are of interest to the faculty in the portfolio review process. To showcase these abilities, they will design and construct a 5-hour independent design project of their choosing. This project must not be a continuation/completion of a course project, nor can it be something they have previously completed. Plan and design it to happen within 5 hours.

The designer's project is to take five hours total, including design, patterning, and construction. This is a strong limitation: you will need to think strategically about what can be accomplished in that short amount of time. You will record your actual time spent on the project as well: please be honest and accurate in reporting this, there is no “wrong” answer.

The project must have a physical pattern, although it does not need to be a garment. It can be an accessory, a non-clothing item, or anything else that is patterned and subsequently constructed. Use a professional approach to planning and patterning the project, and bring the final patterns with to portfolio review.

The project must be constructed, although it does not specifically need to be constructed from textiles or fibers. Non-traditional materials are welcomed, but the final product should be polished and professional. Bring the final item to portfolio review.
