I'm Jing from Beijing, China. Economics is an attraction in the way how simplified models can demonstrate theories that associated with the practical world, which I intended to study at the U. I play video games a lot and especially have a fondness for soul gems like Sekiro, Elden Ring, etc. The most addictive thing that soul games have is the enjoyment brought by defending the seemingly unstoppable boss though this could be really hard to achieve at first. I am a big fan of coffee and espresso. I've tried multiple coffee making devices including espresso machine, French press, Aero press, etc. There are lots of variable to control in the coffee making process like water temperature, the thickness of grounded coffee powder, the pressure and I've enjoyed in adjusting these to get a cup of demanding coffee.
Memoir: Green first reviewed the laborious effort he put into building a trail in his home after the publication of " Turtles All the Way Down" then he encountered an accident causing him to become disorientated and later diagnosed with labyrinthitis.
Research: The research part is more about Green as a book reviewer. He starts to question the necessity of using five star scale in reviewing books and research the historical development and limitation of five-star-rating. Eventually, he concludes that people should incorporate personal experiences into writing and numerical rating is too simple for expressing an individual thoughts about a work.
Reflection: Green's reflection is motivated by Sahara and Amy. Sahara reminds him to devote himself to become an participant instead of a disinsterested observers after read his review of Canada geese and Diet Dr Pepper. Amy encouraged Green to pay attention to what he pays attention to.
Green's idea of experience suffering instead of ignore it while still in love with the beauty and intricacy of life shows his tolerance to things that happen around. His ability to frankly face all feelings and reactions generated is stunning. This kind of peace status somehow like Buddism idea and is attractive to me.
Memoir: John Green's connects his son's experience of creating a hand stencil with cave painting to shape the sense of universal expericence. He further compares children who discovered the cave with his son showing the curiosity and adventure qualities.
Research: Green talks about the discovery of the cave painting and raise questions about the absence of important animal in cave painting, and the purpose of such painting.
Reflection: The irony of human to unintentionally damage the ancient art that they eager to admire. Human's impact on historical spot.
The idea of universal experience and the way he connects the cave painting with his personal experience is really interesting for me. To my knowledge, universal experience, in other words, collective consciousness is a controversial idea that first mentioned by Jung. This idea hasn't been scientifically proven, but it seems like Green always has his own way to interlink things to his life.
Memoir: The story of Roosevelt and bear in a hunting.
Research: Green first discusses the origin of the term bear and a the use of substitutes. He mentions the practice of bear baiting as an entertainment, then talks about the birth of the teddy bear and Paddinton bear as cartoon characters showing the transformation in how human perceives bear.
Reflection: He reflects the relationship between humans and bears emphasizing how human used to be afraid of and then view bear as cute and adorable. The survival of many species depends on how humans perceive them.
The discussion of transformation in the character of bears somehow shows human's concept or consciousness of a item or thing is malleable by opinions and by how things being presented. The survival of many species might be relative to how they being perceived by humans. This passage makes me rethink my idea and perception about lots of things that I used to.
Transformation of filmmaking: a little machine that plays a list of pictures to a film that is well presented with a linear plot.

Should we have kids given the situation of climate change.-Bio student (uncertainty in the further) personal fear/ Columbian prof-driven by fear, don’t want to further contaminate the Earth and don’t want a newborn baby to suffer. The Earth carrying capacity is limited, but it's not scientific to estimate to a certain number because of the potential harm it might bring-human elimination. Bringing this topic to individual level to consider based on personal concern and situation. She still believes the world worth living even thought the futher is uncertain. I have baby fever but never related having a baby with the ecosystem things or with the eternized inner fear, so it brings me to a new consideration.
Strongest element is to show film history in the way it is and associate this with my personal experience in childhood and college. About film history, there are too many aspects that I can talk about so I have to choose what to write about. For the next project, I hope I can learn something from reading my peer's work. Hope the instructor provides some thoughts about how to express in more essential and organized way. I rate my project 1 3 out of 5 stars. I actually expected a little bit more about the expression of feelings and thoughts on the memoir part, but I am a fact based person that not used to accurately express my detailed feelings.
"Try to point out the difference between knowing what we know and knowing that we know" We usually lack of sight on self-awareness and the effect of unconsciousness. Self-perception is important to accurately express ourselves. “Why they made the rhetorical choices they did" What is the purpose of using this rhetorical choices and how does it function in the whole paragraph. "Metacognition requires that writers think about their mental pro-cesses" Change the composiation of our sentance to make it more close to what do we meant to say, the same time effectively control our work.
Project 2 Preliminart Project Description:
Do we nessasarily need to purchase a house in the future? Houses seem like gradually become more and more unaffordable. There is a solid data showing that the median sales price of house sold for the US has exprience a rise since 1970s and this trend also manefists worldwidely. I interviewd Kevin, my friend who also study at the U as a undergraduate, for getting same aged peer's idea about housing and affordability.
