As we are getting closer to spring, soon comes the end of your pre-clinical medical school years. This is a huge milestone and is a season of great transition. Time will be short with academics and preparing for Step as significant demands for your energy. Be sure to allow space for yourself, connection to those who mean the most to you, and celebrate your achievements as you successfully make your way towards becoming a MS-3!

Couples matching? A live panel with current MS-4s who have gone through the process will be scheduled in the afternoon following the main Residency Workshop on 3/26. Continue to make an effort to connect with potential Letter of Recommendation authors and mentors within your chosen specialty. Be sure to meet with potential LOR authors right away after completing a rotation so that they remember you well and will be able to write a strong letter.

If you have not already done so, use your ERAS token and create slots for your Letters of Recommendation Authors. Email resapp@umn.edu if you have any questions or need to have a token resent.

Reach out to Specialty Experts with any specific questions and for advice for residency applications and strategies.

Consider taking (or retaking) an assessment and use tools in Careers in Medicine to help with narrowing down or confirming your top specialty interests.

Remember to update your CV if you have not done so recently.

Rank Order Lists for the main Match are due February 26th. Avoid last minute changes and technical issues by completing this step when you are ready, preferably no later than a 3-4 days prior to the deadline.
