Once the final oral examination is complete and any required revisions to the dissertation are made and approved by the advisor and/or committee, the student is required to submit a copy of the final dissertation and other materials to the GSSP Office. Students should talk with their advisor(s) and DGS regarding posting their dissertations on the UMN Digital Conservancy if there might be copyright issues with publications. There is a form that students and advisor(s) can sign to embargo the dissertation and delay posting to the public Digital Conservancy, if necessary. All students interested in publishing parts or all of their dissertation research should talk to advisors, the DGS and potential journal editors prior to publishing in a journal and/or posting to the Digital Conservancy.
Once you pass your final oral exam, fill out and submit the Thesis/Dissertation Approval and Deposit Agreement prior to the last business day of the anticipated month of graduation.
Students must follow the Thesis/Dissertation Submission and Formatting guidelines. UMN Libraries has provided this workshop for Formatting your Dissertation in Word. Included are several tutorials as well as sample documents.
