Elective Requirements

Students entering the PhD program prior to Fall 2021 have elective coursese determined in collaboration with their faculty advisor. Students entering the program Fall 2021 and later have set elective courses and should consult their program plan. This list can be used by Fall 2021 and later admits as optional coursework to enhance their PhD required coursework.

Please consult your individual Graduate Planning & Audit system for confirmation of the elective requirements that apply to you as they may vary from entry term to entry term. The following list (not exhaustive) includes some common courses within the nursing elective section. Additional course options are included in your GPAS and should be chosen in consultation with your advisor.


NURS 5115: Interprofessional Health Care Informatics (3 cr)

NURS 6102: Family Health Care Theory for Nursing (2 cr)

NURS 7200: Economics of Health Care (3 cr)

NURS 7300: Program Evaluation (3 cr)

NURS 7900: Scholarly Teaching & Learning in Nursing (3 cr)

NURS 7904: Nursing Education Practicum (2 cr)

NURS 8193: Special Topics in Nursing Research (1-6 cr)

CSPH 5101: Introduction to Integrative Therapies and Healing Practices (3 cr)
