In which we talk with Linda Jones and Lucy Waite about being a librarian at a very small college library. We talk about the many hats a librarian wears, building community, and professional development opportunities when they are the only librarian, or one of only a couple staff at the library.

Linda Jones is Director of Library Services at the Won Institute of Graduate Studies located in the Philly suburbs. Won Institute offers programs in Won Buddhism, Acupuncture and Herbal studies. Linda began working with Won in 2021, having previously worked at public and college libraries and having served on the Board of Trustees at a local library. Linda earned her MLIS at the University of Pittsburgh and her MA in English and Publishing from Rosemont College. In her free time she watches too much TV and avoids reading. She likes trying new things and visiting new places and lives with her husband and two cats by the Delaware River in Bucks County, PA
Lucy Waite currently serves as the Director of Library Services and Instructional Resources at Villa Maria College in Buffalo, NY. She has held this role for ten years; she started as Reference and Information Literacy Librarian in 2013. Lucy has served on and chaired several Western New York Library Resources Council committees, currently serving on the Library Education, Awareness and Partnership (LEAP) committee. She has taught first-year experience and computer applications courses for eight years. Her research interests include library space design and textbook affordability initiatives. In her spare time, Lucy also enjoys sewing, skating, and walking her dog.
