This training prepares residents in their role as teachers to assess and evaluate medical students. In May 2021, the University of Minnesota Medical School transitioned its clerkship assessment method to using competency-based medical education. Residents should be familiar with this process as they will be asked to complete evaluations on students.
Review the instructions for completing the training provided in your New Innovations RMS Orientation Checklist.
Review the Medical Student Work Hours Policy regarding expectations for medical students related to their expected work hours.
In compliance with LCME accreditation standard 9.1, all residents that supervise medical students must be familiar with the clerkship learning objectives that each student must satisfy during their clerkship rotation. Residents must be educated on the clerkship learning objectives in preparation for supervising and teaching students.
