Handshake

About Handshake

Handshake is the go-to source for all things career that you will throughout the career exploration and recruiting processes. Start your program off with confidence by learning where to find key information and resources on the site.

Note: Handshake is a new tool for the CBCC replacing TalentLink as of June 1, 2022. If you happen to run across a reference to TalentLink, disregard it and check Handshake instead. There are many features that Handshake has to offer but first, let's get you logged in.

Handshake login page

We strongly recommend you bookmark the login in page for easy access in the future.

Set up your Handshake profile

To maximize your profile, we recommend you consider:

Upload your resume

To use Handshake to apply for opportunities (jobs/internships/volunteer positions) or to sign up for on-campus interviews, you will first need to upload a copy of your resume. Note: Before you do this, make sure you have had your resume reviewed and approved by a CBCC coach.

In order for recruiters to see you as a candidate AND to be included in resume books, you need to make your resume BOTH visible and public:

Once you have at least one document—in this case, your resume—uploaded to your Handshake profile, clicking on the “Documents” submenu under your name will take you to a “Documents” page, where you can manage all of your document uploads: resumes, cover letters, transcripts, and others. You can then add or delete documents as necessary.

Job and Internship Search

Once you’ve completed your profile (although it’s always a work in progress!) and uploaded your resume, you’ll be able to take advantage of the many other tools Handshake has to offer. See below for the three most common search functions (searching for jobs, OCR opportunities and Career Events)

To best leverage the job and internship search features, consider:

TIP:The best way for students to search for remote opportunities is to use the keyword search box and type in the word "remote".

Search for Jobs, Internships, and Volunteer Opportunities

Simply click on the “Jobs” tab at the top of the Handshake page and then wait for all the listings to load. You can then use handy search boxes and filters to refine (for example, by geography or keyword) what’s presented to you. You can even save these customized searches so that you don’t have to set up filters every time you’re on Handshake.

Search for On-Campus Interviews

Click on the “Jobs” tab at the top of the Handshake page, and on the page that follows click on the “All Filters".

Then select "Interviewing On Campus”. There you’ll find a list of upcoming on-campus interviews at the University.

Search for Career Events

Find out about job/career fairs, information sessions, and other events by clicking on the “Events” tab at the top of the Handshake page. On the page that follows, you can click on the “Event Search” tab to search for upcoming events and/or the “Fair Search” tab to search for upcoming job/career fairs.
