We recommend getting your UCard on your first day. The UCard Office will answer all your questions about how to get your UCard. For your first UCard you must go to Coffman Union on the East Bank. Be sure to bring an accepted form of ID and have your Employee ID number or email address ready.
Direct deposit allows payroll to deposit your pay directly to your bank account. You must have your Internet ID and password to do this. To sign up, go to MyU, select My Pay, and then click on Direct Deposit Set-Up.

Pick a date to attend your CFANS New Employee Orientation.
University employees belong to either the Labor Represented, Civil Service, P&A, or Faculty employee groups.
Ask your supervisor if you don't know which employee group you belong to.
Identifying your employee group will help you find your union and your collective bargaining agreement. Your collective bargaining agreement contains a wealth of information about your rights as an employee at the University of Minnesota, including vacation and sick leave accrual, overtime guidelines, discipline procedures, rights in the face of layoffs, and much more!

Trainings can be required for every employee working in a lab, some employees working in specific conditions or with specific substances, or lab-specific training courses.
Consult with your Principal Investigator (PI) to determine which Lab-Specific Training courses or additional training courses in the HSRM catalog are necessary for your lab.
