You may receive an email letting you know a package has arrived at the main office, Hodson 219.
Note: All packages are delivered through UMarket. If you get a notification from the supplier or shipping company that your package has been delivered, it will take ~24 hours for it to be delivered to Hodson Hall.
Sending letters: Stamped letters can be shipped by putting them in the white USPS box outside of the main office (by the water fountain).
Delivered mail: The mailboxes are in Hodson 230. All faculty have a 'LAST NAME Lab' mailbox for researchers/staff. Grad Students' mailboxes are to the right. If you need a mailbox, tell the office manager.
Campus mail allows you to send letter and packages to another person at the university. More on campus mail can be found here. Outgoing campus mail can be put in the maroon box outside of the office (by the water fountain). Campus mail does not require a stamp/postage.
Proper campus mail addresses include four pieces of information:
Name of recipient
Department name
Building and room number
Campus Mail delivery code, you can also find the address of specific people using the universities people search
If you receive packages and are billed as the recipient, the fedex department account number is: 200790508
The department has a FedEx account for shipping packages at a premium rate. If you would like a label made please email the office manager and provide the following information:
Recipients name, address, and phone number
Package weight
Package dimensions
What are you shipping?
Is it Dry Ice? If so include the weight of just the dry ice
What day you will be dropping off the package?
Preferred shipping speed (priority overnight, 2-day shipping), or if there is a budget, we can tell you what speeds fit in the budget, we need all the previous info first before I can tell you shipping prices
UMN funding string that will be paying for it/the recipient's FedEx account number
Hodson Hall (2024) [updated BEP in progress 5/24]
The department owns Hodson 480, 485, and 224, email the office manager to make a a reservation. Hodson 224 can be reserved by anyone through Google Calendar. To ensure it shows up as reserved, select the room as the SCHEDULER (where you name/calendar is listed, change that to the 224 calendar) . It does not always show up as reserved for others if the room is invited as a guest.
Please use Astra room scheduler if you would like to sign out a general-purpose classroom. These rooms are owned by the Office of Classroom Management. You may need to allow up to 30 days prior to your event for reservation approval. Note that classes are scheduled through a separate process.
Paper and office supplies can be found in the black cabinet to the right of the printer. If you took the last of something or would like something ordered tell the office manager.
Note: The office does not keep a ton of paper on hand, if you are in need of +2 reams at one time, please order that for yourself on UMarket. If you notice only a few reams are remaining, please let the office manager know so more can be ordered.
