Kerry Danahy Ebert, Ph.D., CCC-SLP
Lab Director
Dr. Ebert is an associate professor in the Department of Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences. Her research examines interactions between cognition and language in bilingual and monolingual children with developmental language disorder and related implications for effective assessment and treatment services. She is also interested in factors that influence the efficacy of speech-language treatment services for children.

Kristie Gonzalez, M.A., CCC-SLP
Research Coordinator
Kristie is a bilingual speech-language pathologist (Spanish/English), with pediatric experience in school and clinical settings. Her areas of interest include bilingual language acquisition, and assessment/treatment of phonological and language disorders in children. She is also interested in all things related to world languages and music.
PhD students
Miriam Kornelis
M.A., CCC-SLP
Miriam is a Ph.D. student in Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences at the University of Minnesota. Miriam is a licensed speech-language pathologist (SLP). Prior to beginning her doctoral studies, Miriam worked as an early childhood SLP in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Her research interests include language acquisition and disorders, bilingual language acquisition, bilingual intervention and evaluation, parent/caregiver coaching models, and school-based service delivery models. Outside of her work and studies, she enjoys hiking, sewing, and making pottery.
Kirstin Kuchler
M.A., CCC-SLP
Kirstin is a Ph.D. candidate in Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences. She is studying dynamic assessments for diagnosing multilingual children with language disorders. She was a clinician in schools for 6 years before returning to school for her Ph.D.
HaeJi Lee
M.A., CCC-SLP
HaeJi is a PhD student in Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences at the University of Minnesota and a Korean-English bilingual SLP. Her research interest includes the treatment, assessment, and diagnosis of speech and language disabilities of multilingual and multicultural children. In addition, she would like to explore the effects of parents' and/or caregivers' language use, social interaction, and cultural components in early intervention. During her free time, she enjoys figure skating, working out, and baking.
Eugene Wong

Graduate students
Rachelle Valentin
Rachelle is a Spanish-English bilingual graduate student in Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences at the University of Minnesota. She has interests in bilingual language acquisition, assessment and intervention of speech and language in multilingual children, and caregiver coaching models. Her background as a first-generation Latine student has provided her with a unique perspective throughout her time in research and her educational journey. After graduate school, Rachelle hopes to work as a pediatric speech-language pathologist and provide services that are responsive to culturally and linguistically diverse populations.
Kayla Greifenkamp
Kayla is a graduate student in Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences. Some of her favorite topics include bilingualism and second language acquisition.
Muna Musse
Muna is a Somali-English bilingual graduate student in Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences at the University of Minnesota. She has interests in equitable assessments for bilingual children, neurodiversity-affirming practices, trauma-informed services, and bilingual service delivery. She is also interested in parent education for Somali families regarding early intervention, speech therapy, neurodiversity, and autism.
Undergraduate students
Kendall Mehring
Kendall is an undergraduate student majoring in Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences and minoring in Spanish Studies. She learned Spanish through an immersion school and is excited to put her language skills to use and get more practice with the language. Kendall is interested in learning more about bilingualism and its impacts on language acquisition to apply toward her dream of working as an SLP with bilingual children.
Malia Wagner
Malia is an undergraduate student double majoring in Speech-Language Hearing Science and Spanish Studies. She is also minoring in integrative neuroscience. Her research interest includes bilingual children, language acquisition, and overall using science to do the best. She has lots of experience working with children as a swim lessons teacher, nanny, and from having 4 younger sisters.
Hannah Pham
Hannah (she/her) is an undergraduate student majoring in Neuroscience. She is looking forward to learning more about language acquisition, multilingualism, and language disorders. In her free time, Hannah enjoys music, reading, and exercising.

Our work on bilingual children with developmental language disorder has been completed in close collaboration with Dr. Giang Pham and the Bilingual Development in Context Lab at San Diego State University.
