Student Involvement

Explore Student Involvement Opportunities

A survey of recent graduates highlighted student involvement as being among the most impactful parts of their undergraduate experience! Below, we’ve highlighted several engagement opportunities that may be of particular interest to BME and HRD majors.

Student Groups

The University is home to more than 1000 student groups and organizations. Joining a student group offers opportunities to connect with peers who hold similar interests and identities, and can be a great way to grow personally and professionally. A few student groups with an HR or Business and Marketing focus include:

Center for Sales Leadership and Education

The Center for Sales Leadership and Education (CSLE) can be a great way to further develop sales skills in a practical environment. Students participating in CSLE have opportunities to practice their sales pitches, interact and forge relationships with various corporate partners, and to harness those relationships in ways that could lead to internship or employment opportunities. Students who engage with the Sales Center have opportunities to:

  • Earn a Sales Certificate

  • Compete in local and national sales tournaments

  • Gain access to great internship and full-time sales careers

  • Participate in seminars, mentorships, and much more

Learning Abroad and National Student Exchange

  • Study Abroad. Each year, students in BME and HRD study and complete internship experiences across the globe. If you are interested in studying abroad, consider attending a First Step Session with the Learning Abroad Center and connect with your OLPD advisor to discuss ways in which your study abroad experience can fit into your academic program.

  • National Student Exchange (NSE). Study at another school in the U.S., Canada, Guam, Puerto Rico, or U.S. Virgin Islands for a summer, semester or year! CEHD students are encouraged to exchange to a Historically Black College or University (HBCU) or a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) for a semester or year. CEHD will cover the $225 application fee for CEHD students that apply to an HBCU or HSI!

We want your input!

OLPD consistently aims to gain a better understanding of what groups/organizations/activities our students are involved in, and what experiences our students have found impactful.

Share your experiences and ideas for future opportunities you'd like to see.
