Academic Advising Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find my academic advisor(s)?
There are a couple of ways to confirm your academic advisor(s):
Navigate to the "Academics" tab in your MyU Portal and look for the name under "My Advisor(s)."
Your academic advisors should also be listed on your APAS report.
What's the difference between my college advisor and major advisor?
As a student in CEHD, you'll be assigned both a college advisor and a major advisor in OLPD. Your advisors work collaboratively to support you in your academic and personal goals, although each advisor is best equipped to support you in unique ways:
Your college advisor in CEHD Student Services acts as a guide to the college and University. CEHD Student Services advisors can help with things related to university resources, liberal education requirements, petitions, holds, general degree progress and clearance, and general registration planning. (Typically, your college advisor will be the first advisor listed in your APAS.)
As a declared BME or HRD student, you'll also be assigned a major advisor. OLPD major advisors assist with degree/major planning, minor planning, Applied Experience and Supporting Program questions, OLPD courses, study abroad, and permission numbers. In OLPD, you'll be assigned to work with either Daniel Koza, Zac Arellano, or Liza Pierre. (Typically, your major advisor will be your second advisor listed in your APAS.)
How can I meet with my OLPD advisor?
Advising appointments in OLPD are offered in multiple modalities, including online via Zoom, over the phone, or in-person. We recommend that you use the web scheduling tool to schedule an appointment with your advisor, but if you don't find a time on the scheduler that works for you, please contact your OLPD advisor directly.
Drop-in advising is offered via Zoom and does not require an appointment.
