I will preface this by saying art has no official definition. Due to its widespread existence with different cultural significance globally, it is impossible for there to be a static definition. Even so, to understand the anti-AI art perspectives one must be assigned. This website is specifically covering visual arts and AI, although AI has made an impact on various other forms of art such as music and creative writing. I define visual art as follows:
"A visual display of expression, created by someone with the goal to be interpreted by a target audience, often involving elements such as colors, volume and texture to convey its message."
In short, the work has meaning. The intended audience could be anyone, just the creator themselves. The intended message can be anything, even just "It's for fun" or "The shapes look neat together". The stick figure you drew on your math homework? Art. The pattern you drew on your arm with a pen? Art. AI generated images? Not art. Why? The AI just collages and distorts the artwork in its system to fulfill word prompts, there is no reason for why the work looks the way it does other than all the art that the AI was fed.
In simple terms, those who generate the AI art do not make anything. They type prompts into a system and wait for the AI to give them the result they want. They do not make anything for themselves. There is also the factor that I personally do not consider AI generated images as art, thus there is no individual artist that created it. There is specially no "one singular" artist when referring to AI art as the AI generation programs use the works of various artists in their training and generation.
I do not support the current regulation revolving around AI generation nor any companies that immorally scrape artwork off public platforms such as X and instagram. As a result, I set the personal boundary for this website to not help train AI by generating work. All AI generated images used on this website are taken off of google images and are confirmed to be AI generated and not imitations of AI art.
