Pharmacokinetics Core

Our group is involved in studying varying drug responses in several neuropharmacology areas at both the preclinical and clinical level. We have an expertise in the pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics in special populations.

We are involved with several multi-center grant projects where our laboratory operates as a Pharmacokinetics Laboratory Core.

The ability to reliably and accurately measure drug levels is critical and methods in our analytical laboratory are optimized to decrease assay variability. Current research involves clinical neuropharmacology in the area of epilepsy with a specific emphasis on population pharmacokinetics in special populations.

Currently our laboratory is the Pharmacokinetic Laboratory Core for a 20-site U01 grant exploring the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamics relationships of antiseizure medications in pregnant women with epilepsy and two opioid vaccine grants. Our core laboratory has overseen all aspects of pharmacokinetic/ pharmacodynamics and pharmacogenomics including study design, sample collection and analyses, and pharmacokinetic/ pharmacodynamic modeling. We have developed and validated assays to measure antiseizure medications, benzodiazepines, antidepressants, and opioids.
