The Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Program at the University of Michigan was established over 60 years ago and we have trained over 200 fellows who have gone on to become leaders in clinical and research around the country. We look forward to showing you how we can help you in the next stage of your career!
Daniel Foley, MD
Co-Chief Fellow 2024-2025
Dr. Foley was born and raised in Michigan, originally from the Flint area. He attended undergraduate at small liberal arts college in Grand Rapids, MI called Aquinas College. He received his MD from the University of Virginia and then came back to Michigan for Internal Medicine residency, fellowship, and is serving as a co-chief in his 3rd year. He is interested in malignant hematology, with a special interest in myeloid diseases, including myeloproliferative neoplasms, of which he is engaged in clinical research with Dr. Pettit. He has been married to his wife, Rachel, for 8 years, and they have two beautiful daughters, Elora (3) and Signe (5 months). Although his free time is mostly spent with family, he enjoys running, hiking, and cycling whenever he is able to. His favorite parts of the Hematology/Oncology program at Michigan are the people. Although there is access to excellent clinical and lab-based research as well as numerous faculty to be connected with, the collegiality and camaraderie amongst the co-fellows and with the faculty is easily the highlight of the fellowship program.
Michael McLane, MD
Co-Chief Fellow 2024-2025
Dr. McLane is from a small town outside of Lansing, MI. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan, attended medical school at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH, and then came back to U of M to complete his residency and fellowship training. His clinical interest is in malignant hematology, and his research is focused on improving outcomes for patients with rare subtypes of lymphoma. He currently lives just outside of Ann Arbor with his high school sweetheart and wife, Beth, their two sons, Owen (3 years old) and Warren (8 months old) and their giant golden retriever, Harper. His primary hobbies include getting his kids ready for daycare, cleaning up after his kids when he gets home from work, putting his kids to bed, and then promptly falling asleep himself... However, when he finds time, he also loves to camp, watch sports (especially Michigan football), drink good coffee, and spend quality time with his wife and his wonderful co-fellows.
