FLAS Updates Email Group
Announcements regarding the FLAS Fellowship competition, such as Information Sessions and Advising Office Hours, will be sent by email to the FLAS Updates email group and posted on this website. FLAS Updates is an MCommunity group. It is self-joinable for those who have a valid U-M uniqname.
Step by step instructions on how to joint the FLAS Updates email group:
Go to MCommunity: https://mcommunity.umich.edu/
Login with your uniqname using the Log In link at the top right.
In the search box, type FLAS updates to find the email group.
On the Search Results page, click on the group name FLAS Updates to open the group information page.
Click on the Join Group button at the top left, just below the group name in the blue bar.
Information Sessions
Information Sessions for the 2024 competition cycle (for Summer 2024 and Academic Year 2024-25 Awards). We strongly recommend all applicants to attend an Info Session before meeting with a FLAS Coordinator for advising. All sessions will be held online.

Special Event Info Session: FLAS - Crossing the Finish Line
Wednesday, January 24th, 3:00pm
This special FLAS Info Session is for students with open applications for the FLAS Fellowship. We will be answering any final questions and trouble-shooting any issues in the application portal. We see a number of applicants every year come so close to the finish line and end up not completing the application, and we want to help make sure everyone has the opportunity to finish strong.
FLAS Advising Appointments
Please thoroughly read the appropriate competition pages (GR AY, UG AY, and/or Summer) as well as the FAQs before contacting a FLAS Coordinator. We also recommend that on-campus applicants attend an Info Session before meeting with a FLAS Coordinator.
FLAS Coordinator is available to meet with interested applicants by appointment beginning in November and through December. Current U-M students may schedule an advising appointment with a FLAS Coordinator by using this link HERE. [Note: this advising appointment system uses the LSA undergraduate system but is open to both undergraduate and graduate students in all U-M schools/colleges. To see the FLAS Coordinator's available appointment slots, first select FLAS Fellowships, then your FLAS world region.] If you are unable to set up an appointment because you don't have a UMich uniqname, please contact ii.flasinfo@umich.edu to schedule an appointment.
