Module Development, 2022

In Winter 2022, I worked alongside Earth Camp Director, Jenna Munson and UM Professor Naomi Levin to develop a new hydrology module for Earth Camp students during their time at the UM BioStation.

This module involves place-based learning and emphasizes important data management and analysis skillsets that are valuable for STEM majors and careers.

The inaugural UM BioStation module ran from July 24-26 and we welcomed 15 high school students. Together, we created water depth profiles for Temperature, Disolved Oxygen, and Light Intensity from Douglas Lake, and measured stream discharge in the Carp Creek headwaters. We are so excited to run this module again next year!

The development of this module is funded through NSF award 2102843 to Naomi Levin.

Returning from to the BioStation after data collection on Douglas Lake!
