Ross Application & U.S. Immigration
Ross Application & Immigration
In order to participate in a semester exchange program at Ross, you will need to complete a series of steps through our application system, M-Compass.
Once your home school coordinator has nominated you to our program, we will send you a “Welcome to Ross” email and begin working diligently “behind the scenes” to prepare for your upcoming term.
After we manually add you to our application system, you can complete your Ross Application in M-Compass and upload required documents. These steps are necessary for your formal admission to Ross and immigration documents (e.g., I-20 form and F-1 student visa).
Deadlines
Please submit your application requirements by the deadline listed in your email from Global Initiatives.
Once all items have been completed in M-Compass, your application will be processed for admission to the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business as a non-degree seeking exchange student. Then, your application will be shared with the University of Michigan's International Center to prepare your I-20 document.
Late applications may delay the admissions process, your access to the course registration system, and ability to apply for your student visa.
Complete your application materials to the University of Michigan via M-Compass.
Once you complete your M-Compass application and we have processed it, you will receive your UMID (student ID number) and create your uniqname (necessary for creating your U-M email address).
The U-M International Center will issue your I-20 document electronically, which is necessary for your F-1 visa application (please note that this process takes several weeks).
There are several steps to take in order to apply for your visa. Most students with very few exceptions will apply for an F-1 visa.
