Public Transportation
Buses
AATA (White Buses): Ann Arbor area public transportation system. Free to use with your M-Card. Routes and stops located throughout Ann Arbor, the University, and Ypsilanti for convenient travel to local grocery stores and other destinations. Buses run Monday through Sunday. U-M Buses: U-M operated bus system free to all on campus. Buses pick up and transport to various points on Central and North Campus. Buses run Monday-Friday with limited service on weekends. Go here for maps, schedules, and mobile tracker.
Michigan Flyer: Shuttle service that connects Ann Arbor and East Lansing to Detroit Metro Airport (DTW). Tickets are much more affordable than a taxi fare, but space can be limited. Go to their website to book a trip or find a schedule.

TheRide: In addition to fixed route buses, TheRide offers shared-ride accessible service, vanpools, express buses, and more.
Ride Sharing Services

University of Michigan offers many late night transportation options, such as SafeRide, Night Ride, State Street Ride, and more, which can be found here.
Biking
Ann Arbor is also known for being a bike-friendly city! U-M Recreational Sports offers bike rentals so students can expand their Ann Arbor exploration and even visit neighboring towns, such as Dixboro and Dexter.
Walking
The University of Michigan is located in the heart of Ann Arbor, so walking is frequently the easiest and quickest way to travel throughout campus and central Ann Arbor.

Travel within Michigan
Amtrak is the national passenger rail system of the Untied States. While this system provides connections to most American cities, service is slow and more ideally suited to regional transport. The Ann Arbor Amtrak Station provides connections to Chicago, Grand Rapids, Lake Huron, Battle Creek, East Lansing, and Kalamazoo, among other locations. Tickets should be purchased several weeks prior to your trip as prices increase as the departure date approaches.
Greyhound Bus Lines offers cross-country bus service as well as service between cities within Michigan. The Ann Arbor bus station is located in the Kerrytown neighborhood. You can find routes, schedules, and book tickets directly from the Greyhound web site.
Prices and schedules change so quickly in the airline industry that the best idea is to call several airline companies or travel agencies or check out their websites every time you want to take a trip to see what special offers they have.
