Arrival in Michigan, USA!
When you land in Michigan, you will most likely be arriving at the Detroit Metro Airport (DTW). Ann Arbor is approximately a 35-minute drive away. There are a few options to get from Detroit Metro Airport to Ann Arbor.
You can also check the last date of exams to plan for your departure.
While unfortunately there is no public transportation available to and from the airport, we’ve outlined a few common transportation methods below. You will find that costs and schedules vary depending on the service.
Orientation dates will be shared with you via email but you can expect to arrive on campus 2-3 days before the official term start date in order to engage in mandatory orientation.
Michigan Flyer
The Michigan Flyer (AirRide) is a cost effective way to travel from the airport to Ann Arbor.
You can book online beforehand.
Drop off location in Ann Arbor is the Blake Transit Center (328 S. Fifth Ave.), which is close to U-M Central Campus.

Mandatory Incoming Exchange Student Orientation

Preparing for Orientation: Submitting your MCard Photo
Prior to your arrival, we will send an email with details to submit your MCard photo online. If you do this, your MCard will be available for you to pick up at orientation. (If not, you can get your MCard following orientation.)
Your MCard is your University of Michigan student identification card. You will need it for many different things while at the University, including academic and social/cultural events.
