This podcast series focuses on food security, particularly as it pertains to Chicago, Illinois. We wanted to focus on Chicago as we figured we spend a great deal of time in class focusing on Michigan, and we knew of other groups who were focusing on food security in Wayne County (specifically Detroit) and Washtenaw County (specifically Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti). That said, we thought it would be interesting to look outside of Michigan, to a city that is somewhat nearby and to a place that two of our group members call home. The podcast series is broken into four episodes, structured as follows: (1) background information on food insecurity in Chicago, (2) comparison of food insecurity in Chicago to food insecurity in another metro midwestern city, (3) COVID-19’s impact on food insecurity in Chicago, and (4) a discussion of possible solutions with Professor Cindy Leung.
