I used my findings from usability testing by looking at the insights of participants’ performances in doing a different kind of tasks to determine the objective for my survey. I decided on my target audience based on the relevancy of topics about UMSI’s websites. UMSI is a university site, so a full-time student audience that varies from age 18 to 25 would be prioritized for my survey. Furthermore, I kept the consistency of my target audience by conducting usability testing to find the results as precise as possible.
Some of the refinements and adjustments that I made to the design of my questions are using more various or combinations of different types of questions. Making sure that the overall survey matched with my objective and data collection table as I continually thought through what data I wanted. I feel like this is important because it was common for researchers to lose the quality of survey questions without remembering the big picture of the objective and focus on the data that need to be collected. I believe having more options or choices was important for participants to select the answer as accurately as possible to ensure I would get the data I wanted.
