I was inspired to combine my work in the Mindful Leader Program with the Barger Leadership Institute with my passion in facilitation to pursue receiving a certification in mindfulness. I am in the process of receiving the certification through Koru Mindfulness in which I received a teacher certification in October 2020.
Koru Mindfulness focuses on teaching and equipping emerging adults (18 to 29 years old) with methods and practices to be more mindful in the present moment. This particular age group faces a great deal of stress influenced from a variety of factors including major changes such as starting a first professional career, going through college, and other major life changes.
While the Koru Mindfulness curriculum focuses on emerging adults, the age groups varied in the individuals who were interested in the classes I hosted at the University of Michigan. You can find more about the class and student testimonials here.
