EDT 531 - Leadership and Professional Development in Educational Technology
This field-based course provides students with the necessary skills to design and practice methods and strategies for providing effective professional development (PD) programs for educators/trainers and to demonstrate leadership in technology learning practices and techniques in a K-16/industry environment.
A Needs Assessment report was developed to assess technological training needs of Business Consultants in my workplace. This is an integral part of professional development. It highlights the company's current technology plan, identifies subject matter experts, and includes build-in evaluation plans.
Based on the needs outlined in the Needs Assessment report, I created a Professional Development Proposal that describes connection to student learning, hands-on technology use, and job-specific application of the proposed professional development.
The Final PD Report above reports on what would be expected from the implementation of this PD. While I was unable to implement this in my current place of work, it was a great learning experience for work that I would like to do in the future. I would like to explore corporate learning and development, so I felt that this project helped me in understanding the steps to designing and delivering an effective, well thought-out professional development.
