The Upper Montgomery County Volunteer Fire Department was originally formed and incorporated in April 1946 by local residents Lloyd Jones, Jr.; William Hilton; Charles Staub; Benoni Allnutt; and Charles Elgin.

… to protect and safeguard the interest of all persons and property holders… from the dangers and ravages of fire; to promote social intercourse and moral and civic betterment among those persons…
