Active / IECS

This group includes those members who want to be actively engaged in most UMCVFD EMS - Firefighting operational and / or fundraising and non-operational events. You are NOT required to be an EMS provider or Firefighting member to be part of the Active / IECS group. Active group members are automatically on probation for one year.

Members who do choose to engage in firefighting and/or EMS operations and staff apparatus must train and be certified to Certification Standards for Training, Experience and Credentialing Requirements Regulation No. 36-08AM to be on the Integrated Emergency Command Structure, or IECS, List. New members who are not yet certified are considered “Candidates” on the IECS List. Upon completion of your training, you may staff apparatus. Maintaining your IECS certification requires continuing education in the way of annual recertification programs. If either your firefighting or EMS certifications expires, you are automatically placed at “Candidate” status until you become current on any delinquent recertifications. IECS members of the UMCVFD have Operational responsibilities, described later in this document.
