Race

Race is one of the protected characteristics under the Equality Act. Racial discrimination is where a person is treated unfairly because of their race, colour of skin, or because they're part of a particular ethnical minority group.

Some simple ways promote inclusivity in your club:

  1. Challenge. Always challenge racism and racist behaviour within your club.

  2. Review. Take time to review recruitment practices as well as the design of your structures, programmes and interventions to help engage and attract more diverse people.

  3. Support. This is an area that we need ongoing training and education to understand racism and the impact it has on individuals and groups. Seek opportunities to learn more.

  4. Engage. Engage with individuals in your club and further afield to champion anti-racist behaviours and practices and to seek guidance on how to improve.
