Mental Health is linked to our Ultimate experience in many different ways, from those that use the sport as stress-release to those who make sure their mental health is supporting them to preform the best they can. Whatever your experience, we may all need some extra support in this area of our lives at times. Below are some organisations that could help:
Mind provides information and advice to people in England and Wales about mental health problems, treatments, services and your rights. They have information specifically for young people aged 11-18 which talks you through how you get help for you mental health and how you can look after yourself and your feelings. They have an Infoline providing information and signposting. Phone numbers, email addresses and opening times can be found on their website info@mind.org.uk .
They also have a legal line providing legal information and general advice on mental health related law.
This organisation provides practical advice and information about mental health, including different types of therapy and medication, financial issues, rights under the mental health act and legal processes. They also provide signposting to other services in your local area. This includes their 140+ support groups and mental health services (carers support, 24/7 crisis homes, criminal justice and advocacy). Promote. Promote mental health in your club as much as good physical health is promoted.
Ask. Never be afraid to ask "how are you" or even build a quick mental health check at the start of training or other times.
Culture. Build mental health awareness into your club's culture at all levels.
