LETTERS: Following the extension of the Movement Control Order (MCO) to curb Covid-19 pandemic, academicians are resorting to e-learning.
Conventional Teaching & Learning (T&L) process required students and lecturers to be in the same physical space to interact with each other.
Classes can be held online using Facebook, YouTube, Google Meet, Zoom, and many more platforms. In fact, some workshops, laboratory sessions, tutorials, and exercises can done through simulations and pre-recorded videos.
Nonetheless, these activities demand for a highly stable internet connection. Therefore, every home should have a high-speed internet connection to allow students access to educational materials and contents.
Recently, the government offered 1GB worth of internet data for Malaysians everyday during MCO. We would like to thank the government for this great initiative that is hoped to be beneficial for all.
All internet providers should come up with plans to support e-learning for students. The special packages must be affordable to all levels of society especially students at higher education institutions whose parents are classified as B40 to enable them to access educational materials.
Students in rural areas are currently suffering either from having no access to the internet or having slow-speed and poor internet connection during MCO. So, they are hugely impacted during this period and should be prioritised.
This is the perfect time for the internet providers to widen the internet connectivity to every nook and cranny of the country. For all internet providers, this is the time to contribute and give back to the society who have been your respective loyal customers.
If you decided to help the students, you are investing on developing future leaders for our beloved nation!
