Daily Attendance
The class meets in person 3 times a week. One credit hour is reserved for working with blended learning modules within Canvas, Quizlet, and the Connect platform on your own. Since attendance and participation are crucial for your language development, you are expected to attend and participate in all class sessions. You are allowed two wellness days per semester where you can miss class sessions without consequence. Missing more these two class sessions without an excused absence will result in a lower grade -- your instructor will subtract 3% off your attendance grade for each absence after your two wellness days (exception: absence due to illness, if justified by a doctor’s note), if more than 6 classes are missed, each additional absence will result in a 10% reduction of the attendance grade. In addition, coming late to class two times counts as one day of absence.
In addition to regular class attendance, you must attend either three peer tutoring sessions or three Sprachcafes, or a combination of both which will count for 3% of your attendance grade. You must log your attendance at tutoring sessions and Sprachcafe on our Canvas course site in “Event Attendance and Peer Tutoring Log” under "Modules". Please see Canvas for more detailed information about Sprachcafe and peer tutoring times.

Students who officially register for this course after the first day during the add/drop period have the option to make up online and paper homework by 9 AM on the date of the first exam. After the first exam, missing homework may not be made up.
