Students in Years 8 and 9 use their iPads across all areas of the curriculum, in a number of ways. Below is a selection of student created products that demonstrate their learning experiences in a range of learning areas.
Coding for Numeracy - a Blog which is sharing the adventures of the Year 9 Numeracy Class into the world of Coding using iPad Apps.
In Home Economics, students participate in a range of activities including food and nutrition, culture and fashion.
In Health and Physical Education students study topics in Health and Wellbeing, Developing Movement Skills and Sequences, Tactics and Strategy, Roles in Sport and Using Feedback. The dour practical topics involve the students in utilising a practical sport or game to further their movement skills and develop their understanding of the topic being taught. The aim of this subject is to develop students' skills, knowledge and attitudes towards physical activity and health.
The year 8s used "Minecraft" to design and label their own Italian Piazza. The task required them to incorporate the common features of the piazza they they had researched and use new vocabulary. Students undertook the task with enthusiasm and purpose. They were eager to share their creations with the teacher, asked more questions and were highly engaged. On completing the task, they answered questions about their Piazza design which formed the basis of their oral presentation. There were many keen volunteers prepared to present their work in Italian to the class.
Students in Greek classes use the Inspiration App as a tool for mind-mapping. An example is shown below.
in HASS students explore a range of topics in the areas of history, geography and civics and citizenship.
Students study General Science in years 8 and 9. Here are some examples of student products that demonstrate their understanding of topics covered and experimental practicals undertaken.
Students participate in a range of hands-on activities in the Technology Studies workshops as part of their Year 8 and 9 programs.
Safety in the workshops is fundamental. Students access videos prepared by the teachers that demonstrate the necessary requirements to ensure safety in the workshops is clearly understood.
During their course, students are asked to create a safety video to demonstrate their understand of safety when using tools in the workplace.
Students participate in a range of activities in the Arts during their time in Middle School. These include drama, music, visual arts and design.
