Tips and Strategies

Here are some helpful suggestions:

  • Compact the learning - pretest or gauge your child's knowledge of a subject such as multiplication and modify or take out work that has already been mastered. Give only a few examples to check for understanding.

  • Enrich the instructions - Go deeper and wider into the curriculum rather than faster through the curriculum.

  • Use your child's interests - Teach and create projects based on your child's interest. If they like birds, and the content is about food chains, have your child work on a food chain for a particular bird.

  • Demonstrating Knowledge - Allow your child to choose how they will show their knowledge of the content. Ex. perform a play, make a board game, draw a picture, create a model.
