General Physics

General Physics 1 for Senior High School is developed for the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) specialized subject for grade 12, when the students have already taken the basic calculus courses in grade 11. It follows that the students who chose the STEM path are prepared and will enjoy studying and solving science and mathematical problems in physics.

This subject provides an introduction to the core ideas in physics. Topics covered include kinematics, momentum, work and energy, electric circuits, and circular circuit, taught in a problem solving context.

Kinematics equations

The branch of physics that defines motion with respect to space and time, ignoring the cause of that motion, is known as kinematics. Kinematics equations are a set of equations that can derive an unknown aspect of a body’s motion if the other aspects are provided.

Momentum

Momentum is a fundamental concept in physics that quantifies the motion possessed by an object. It is defined as the product of an object’s mass and velocity. In other words, momentum is determined by multiplying the mass of an object by its velocity. The formula to calculate momentum is:

Momentum = Mass × Velocity

Symbolically, it can be expressed as:

p = mv

Where p is the momentum, m is the mass and v is the velocity.

Work and Energy

The concepts of work and energy are closely tied to the concept of force because an applied force can do work on an object and cause a change in energy. Energy is defined as the ability to do work. While s done on an object when an applied force moves it through a distance. In our everyday language.

Electric Circuit

The electric circuits are closed-loop or paths, forming a network of electrical components where electrons can flow. This path is made using electrical wires and is powered by a source, like a battery. The start of the point from where the electrons start flowing is called the source, whereas the point where electrons leave the electrical circuit is called the return.

Circular Motion

Circular motion is described as a movement of an object while rotating along a circular path. Circular motion can be either uniform or non-uniform. During uniform circular motion, the angular rate of rotation and speed will be constant, while during non-uniform motion the rate of rotation keeps changing.
