In Philippines, as per the Deped Order No.8 Series of 2015 (Policy Guidelines on Classroom Assessment for the K-12 Basic Education Program), the subjects offered in senior high school are categorized as core, applied, and specialized. Core Subjects are the subjects that all students will take regardless of their strand. Contextualized Subjects are just like core subjects but the difference is, these subjects are designed to focus on specific applications of student's chosen track. Specialized subjects are the subjects you can only find in the specific strand. Somewhat, they are similar to the major subjects as they are the concentrated or focused subjects in each strand.
