My time at Vineyard Vines was one I will never forget. From communicating with customers first hand, going to model castings in New York City, and presenting an intern project in front of the whole company, I was really able to grasp an understanding of many different departments in such a short amount of time.
Throughout my time as an intern I was able to develop my communication and problem-solving skills by consistently improving customer satisfaction through expert resolution. I was able to listen to customers concerns through email and constantly put myself in their shoes to fully understand their perspectives. Once I came up with a solution that would satisfy the needs of both the customer and the company, I would communicate it back to them in a clear and concise way.
During my time at Vineyard Vines I was also able to work hand and hand with the in-house stylist. I saw the behind the scenes of e-commerce shoots, editorial shoots, and model castings. As a stylist, there needs to be a combination of creativity and organization. At points if something does not look as expected on a model, you have to play around with other looks. It is important to always be flexible and have a good sense of humor when working with so many different personalities.
On the other hand, during my time as an intern I was able to improve my project management and creative skills while working with a team of five other interns to develop a strategic expansion plan for the company based on its core values. We pitched the idea of Vineyard Vines expanding their market by creating an ice cream truck. We felt the ice cream truck was a brand appropriate way to increase traffic flow into their stores as well as increase the brands presences in areas where stores are not located. I was able to take on a leadership role during this project and make sure we were on a timely schedule for the preparation of our presentation. Besides, thinking of the expansion plan, my main role during this project was to create a new merchandise line that would be sold exclusively in the truck as well as design the truck for our presentation.
