Siobhan Mackenzie is a multi-award-winning Scottish Fashion Designer. Bringing Scottish Dress into the 21st century by breaking the rules of tradition with innovative bespoke & contemporary kilts. She is incorporating new textiles into her garments to make them work in the modern world. During my internship in Glasgow, Scotland I was able to increase my marketing analytical skills by researching a new target market for the company. My main role while abroad was to create an expansion plan for the company into the United States. I created a full operations manual for CEO and founder, Siobhan Mackenzie, which can be seen below. I first researched market locations and customers demand based off of surveys. After that I was able to conduct research on appropriate market locations.
I also was assigned to increase her social media presence. During my first week of the internship I was able to increase Siobhan Mackenzie's Instagram following by 10%. I also was able to assist her during a photoshoot, where I mainly worked on taking photos, which would be seen on her social media, which can be seen below.
Once, I was back in the states, I continued working with Siobhan. I attended the Tartan Day Parade with her in New York City and created a banner, which was held during the parade. Once she went back to Scotland, I continued to reach out to Siobhan. During my time in Scotland she continually brought up the idea of a celebrity being spotted in one of her designs. On one occasion, I mentioned to Siobhan how Justin Bieber would be a great celebrity to wear one of her kilts. Then while Justin Bieber was performing in Glasgow she was able to connect with his team and he agreed to wear one of Siobhan Mackenzie’s bespoke kilts on stage (as seen below).
