With my growing love for fashion I have developed a fascination for travel. Growing up in a small town in New England, I can easily say I was sheltered. I knew there was so much more out there in the world. I saw college as an opportunity to grow and expand my love for fashion by exploring other cultures. My time studying abroad in Scotland and Paris allowed me to completely grow as a person. I can undeniably say I learned more about myself and fashion within my two months abroad than I did in any semester of college. As an extremely visual person, I learn by exploring. I enjoy hands on experiences that force me out of my comfort zone.
Traveling and living in Europe allowed me to jump into a new culture and see the beauty beyond the United States. Delaware provided me with so many great opportunities within the classroom. However, I am a firm believer that you cannot learn everything in the typical classroom setting. The University of Delaware does a remarkable job educating students in the fashion merchandising major, nevertheless the classes I take here do not compare to actually going to other cities. During my time in Scotland and Paris I dove into different cultures and dynamically learned in some of the most magical cities, while seeing fashion first hand. I was thrown into an entrepreneurial and fashion world in foreign countries. I was forced to adapt my business knowledge and learn the customs and traditions in order to appropriately work in the industry.
Through my time abroad I saw new places, met extraordinary people, and left a piece of my heart in every country I traveled too. I look forward to continuing my career in the fashion industry and leaving bits and pieces of me everywhere I go. The gift of travel is that no matter where the day takes me I am able to learn about the culture, the fashion, and myself. Inspiration is everywhere.
